Stranded by Dani Pettrey

17384515

I loved this book but I expected I would because I have loved the other two books in the series. I can’t wait until the next book comes out because I love the characters and I am going to be sad when this series is over. In this book to get to follow along with Darcy & Gage as Darcy tries to find her friend that went missing on cruise ship. This book kept me on my toes and I couldn’t stop reading it until I finished it because I had to know how it ended and what ended up happening in the book.

About Stranded

When her friend vanishes from a cruise ship, reporter Darcy St. James isn’t satisfied with their explanation that she simply left her job of her own accord. Something isn’t lining up, and Darcy believes the only way to find the truth is to put herself in Abby’s position. Within days, Darcy learns her friend wasn’t the only person to disappear mysteriously. Last summer, a woman vanished under almost identical circumstances.
Gage McKenna has taken a summer-long stint leading adventure excursions for the passengers of various cruise lines that dock for a few days of sightseeing. He’s surprised to find Darcy working aboard one of the ships, investigating a troubling report. Something sinister is going on and the deeper they dig the more Gage fears they’ve only discovered the tip of the iceberg.

I feel in love with characters and felt sad when the book finally ended because I became attached to the characters and the story. You get to see how she makes everything right and that telling the truth is the way to go!

About The Book

Miranda Woodruff has it all. At least, that’s how it looks when she’s starring in her homebuilding television show, From the Ground Up. So when her network begins to talk about making cuts, she’ll do anything to boost ratings and save her show-even if it means pretending to be married to a man who’s definitely not the fiance who ran out on her three years ago.

When a handsome reporter starts shadowing Miranda’s every move, all his digging into her personal life brings him a little too close to the truth-and to her. Can the girl whose entire identity is wrapped up in her on-screen persona finally find the nerve to set the record straight? And if she does, will the life she’s built come crashing down just as she’s found a love to last?

Dear Mr Knightley by Katherine Reay

Dear Mr. Knightley Katherine Reay

Dear Mr Knightley by Katherine Reay was such a fun book to read.  This book so unique on the way it is written and set up. I loved that it was all letters basically written to one person and a couple of times there was a letter written back to her. I loved everything about this book and was sad when it ended because I loved the characters and everything about it. I do have to say that for me at least I kind of predicted the ending of the book but that could be because I have read so many books that it is hard for me to be surprised by the ending but I have to say that I loved this book and I can’t wait until she releases more books!

DearMrKnightley-e1380237530598

About Dear Mr Knightley

Samantha Moore has always hidden behind the words of others-namely her favorite characters in literature. Now, she will learn to write her own story-by giving that story to a complete stranger.

Growing up orphaned and alone, Sam found her best friends in the works of Austen, Dickens, and the Brontë sisters. The problem is that she now relates to others more comfortably as Elizabeth Bennet and Jane Eyre than as herself.Sometimes we lose ourselves in the things we care about most.
But life for this twenty-three-year-old is about to get stranger than fiction, when an anonymous benefactor (calling himself “Mr. Knightley”) offers to put Sam through the prestigious Medill School of Journalism. There is only one catch: Sam must write frequent letters to the mysterious donor, detailing her progress. As Sam’s program and peers force her to confront her past, she finds safety in her increasingly personal letters to Mr. Knightley. And when Sam meets eligible, best-selling novelist Alex Powell, those letters unfold a story of love and literature that feels as if it’s pulled from her favorite books. But when secrets come to light, Sam is — once again — made painfully aware of how easily trust can be broken.Reay’s debut novel follows one young woman’s journey as she sheds her protective persona and embraces the person she was meant to become.

A Marriage in Middlebury by Anita Higman

Tur FTC

MarriageInMiddlebury_FInal.indd

I liked this book but I figured out how it was going to end about halfway through and it was kind of predictable most of the time. Even though I figured out what was going to happen I still really enjoyed the author’s writing and the characters in this book. I hated Sam’s dad who passed away within the first couple of chapters. I really liked Charlotte and I am glad in the end everything would out good for her. Like I said I figured out how it was going to end but I still read it until the last page because I loved everything about the story and authors writing. I can’t wait to check out other books by her.

About A Marriage in Middlebury

One decision changed both their lives . . . but will love win in the end? Charlotte Rose Hill enjoys a comfortable life serving up country delicacies, uniquely blended teas, and matchmaking advice for her quirky, devoted customers. The only thing lacking is someone to share it with. At eighteen she denied Sam Wilder’s marriage proposal after his family convinced her to walk away from their relationship. They both moved on . . . or so she thought. When Sam walks back into her life more than a decade later, Charlotte is surprised that her heart still quickens. But is it because of his presence? Or because of the presence of Sam’s new fiancée? A second chance at love doesn’t happen often, but their past may keep them apart. Is it too late for Sam and Charlotte?

Aloha Rose by Lisa Carter

Aloha Rose

Aloha Rose by Lisa Carter was such a fun book to read. I found at times that I would be laughing at the characters and some of the things that happened to them. I loved all the characters and I loved reading as Laney and Kia figured things out and grew as people. I did get pissed off at some parts in the book that I don’t want to give away so I am not going to talk about them but I totally understood why Laney reacted the way she did. If those same things happened to me I would act the same way that she did. I enjoyed this book and can’t to check out books by this author and also more books in this series.

About Aloha Rose

When Laney Carrigan’s adoptive parents encourage her as an adult to seek out her birth family, her only clue is the Lokelani quilt in which she was found wrapped as an infant. Centering her search on the Big Island, she battles fears of rejection from a family that abandoned her once before while her faith struggles to embrace God’s love.
Along the path to her true heritage, she meets Hawaiian cowboy/helicopter pilot, Kai Barnes. Kai is determined to protect the people he’s come to regard as family against a woman he suspects of being nothing more than a gold-digger, but he finds himself drawn to Laney in spite of his reservations. He’s spent his entire life seeking forgiveness from past mistakes and longs for a second chance at happiness.
Laney’s painstaking journey to find restoration and a place to belong among the breathtaking allure of the Big Island will lead her closer to her past and maybe even something more.

The Beloved Daughter by Alana Terry

The Beloved Daughter by Alana Terry was one of the best  books I have read in a long time.   When I was first contacted by the author I thought it sound like it would be a good book to read  but I never expect to be touched so deeply by the book.  I took me about a chapter to get into the story and after that I was hooked and literally read the whole book while I was at work one day because I had to know how it ended.  I felt so bad for all the characters and yet at the same time I was so proud of most of the characters.  I do have say that some of the characters did shock me and weren’t who I thought they were but I love when that happens because it so rarely happens anymore with the amount of books I read.  I can’t say more because I refuse to give the ending away but I recommend this book to everyone because it is amazing and so thought provoking at the same time.

The Beloved Daughter, an inspirational suspense novel by award-winning author Alana Terry, is a story of persecution and triumph set in the oppressive North Korean regime. The audiobook version of Alana’s bestselling debut novel is narrated by Kathy Garver, a four-time Audie award winner and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the Motion Picture Council. (You might also recognize Kathy as Cissy from the TV show Family Affair.)

Listen to a sample of Kathy reading from The Beloved Daughter.

The Beloved Daughter

Synopsis: In a small North Korean village, a young girl struggles to survive. It is her father’s faith, not the famine of North Hamyong Province, that most threatens Chung-Cha’s well-being. The Beloved Daughter follows Chung-Cha into one of the most notorious prison camps the contemporary free world has known. Her crime? Being the daughter of a Christian.

The Christmas Quilt by Vannetta Chapman

The Christmas Quilt

The Christmas Quilt by Vannetta Chapman was such a sweet book to read. I wasn’t sure at the start of the book if it was something that I would enjoy but once I got a few chapters in I didn’t want to put the book down. I love stories that involve the Amish because they always seem to so sweet and cute. I love seeing the world through their eyes because they live so differently than I do. I have to say that my favorite character in this book had to be Leah and I am not totally sure what that is about her but I loved her. I so happy with the ending and this book left a smile on my face because it end perfectly if you were to ask me.

About The Christmas Quilt

Annie’s life is deliciously full as the Christmas season approaches. She helps her husband, Samuel, attend to the community’s minor medical needs. She occasionally assists Belinda, the local midwife, and most days, she finds herself delivering the buggy to her brother Adam. Annie’s sister-in-law Leah is due to deliver their first child before Christmas morning, and Annie is determined to finish a crib quilt before the boppli arrives. With six weeks to go, she should have no problem . . . but God may have a different plan. Leah is rushed to the English hospital when the infant arrives early, and Annie discovers the Christmas quilt may hold a far greater significance than she ever imagined.

Beloved by Robin Lee Hatcher

beloved robin lee hatcher

Beloved by Robin Lee Hatcher was an amazing book.  I really enjoyed this book. I read this book in a few hours because the author did such a good job of grabbing my attention from the first page and didn’t want to put it down. I understood so much about Diana because she seems so much like me that I understood her choices and I also wanted the best for her. In this story you get to see Diana as her husband comes back into her life just as she was about to announce her engagement to a new gentlemen. She thought that her husband had been killed because he was gone for years and he had no contact with anyone in his family. You get to watch Tyson prove to his wife that he loves her and that he wants the marriage to work. I loved everything about this book and the characters. I can’t wait to check out more books by this author because her writing grabs me from the first page.

While Diana suspects the election is his real reason for wanting her by his side, she agrees to maintain his home and to campaign with him, but when it is over, win or lose, she wants her freedom.

To Know You by Shannon Ethridge & Kathryn Mackel

To-Know-You-Ethridge-e1378961378455

To Know You by Shannon Ethridge & Kathryn Mackel was a good book to read.  I really enjoyed reading this and I have to say I love how the book came full circle and I was in love with the ending to this book.  I found that at times I would get pissed off at Julia by how she acted and other times I totally understood why she did the things that she did.  There are so many ups and downs in this book that kept me going because I was always wondering what was going to happen next with the characters.  Like I said before the book goes full circle and I loved that about it.  I am so glad I got the chance to read this book.

About The Book

Julia Whittaker’s rocky past yielded two daughters, both given up for adoption as infants. Now she must find them to try to save her son.

Julia and Matt Whittaker’s son has beaten the odds for thirteen years only to have the odds—and his liver—crash precipitously. The only hope for his survival is a “living liver” transplant, but the transplant list is long and Dillon’s time is short. His two older half-sisters, born eighteen months apart to two different fathers, offer his only hope for survival.

But can Julia ask a young woman—someone she surrendered to strangers long ago and has never spoken with—to make such a sacrifice to save a brother she’s never known? Can she muster the courage to journey back into a shame-filled season of her life, face her choices and their consequences, and find any hope of healing?

And what if she discovers in her own daughters’ lives that a history of foolish choices threatens to repeat itself? Julia knows she’s probably embarking on a fool’s errand—searching for the daughters she abandoned only now that she needs something from them. But love compels Julia to take this journey. Can grace and forgiveness compel her daughters to join her?

In To Know You, Shannon Ethridge and Kathryn Mackel explore how the past creates the present . . . and how even the most shattered lives can be redeemed.

Joyfully Yours by Amy Lamont

joyfullyyours

Joyfully Yours by Amy Lamont was a super cute book to read.  This was such a fun story and I loved that I was able to read it in an hour or so.  I love short stories that I can read quick but yet even though they are short stories I still I get to know the characters.  This  book was wonderfully written and to be honest with everyone she did an amazing job of keeping the story short and yet not making you feel like you are missing out on anything or like the story should have been longer.  I wish the book was longer because I loved the characters and was sad when the book was over.  This is sweet book to read this Christmas season for a quick pick me up if you are down.

About Joyfully Yours by Amy Lamont

A musician and a priest walk into a grocery store—singer Faith Leary thinks this is a better opening for an off-color joke than a recipe for romance, until she finds herself ogling Father Michael in the checkout line the day before Thanksgiving.

When Father Michael first steps in to bail Faith out of her financial jam, Faith thinks she’s being picked up at the grocery store. Right up until she catches sight of the black shirt and tab collar. Since not much in her life is going her way lately, it doesn’t come as much of a shock when Michael turns up at her mother’s Thanksgiving dinner. What does come as a surprise is the attraction that springs up between them. If only he weren’t a priest, he would be perfect for her.

Faith’s sister finds Father Michael attractive, too, and she’s making no bones about it. Scenes from the Thorn Birds flitting through her head, it comes as a relief to Faith to find out Michael is not exactly what he seems. It’s good news until she realizes her sister is a far better match for him than her screw-up self could ever be. But if that’s true, why does Michael insist on seeing only the good in Faith, no matter how often she falls short of her too perfect sister?

About Amy Lamont

Amy Lamont writes contemporary and New Adult romance about quirky heroines and hunky heroes. Over the years she’s had some jobs she loved (working as a program coordinator for a non-profit animal rescue), some jobs she liked (freelance writing), and some jobs she hated (her experience as a waitress has turned her into the excellent tipper she is today). But nothing gives her greater joy than writing romances that pack an emotional punch and come with a guaranteed happily ever after.
